Miami District Leader Training

Why is training important?

As a Scout leader and/or parent, you need training to help you understand the aims and purposes of the Scouting

program and to learn how to plan an effective program. Leadership-training programs help you to become confident

in carrying out these responsibilities.

What defines a trained Scout Leader?

Cub Scout leaders are considered trained when they have completed, Fast Start for their position, New Leader

Essentials and the Cub Scout Leader Specific training for their position. When your position changes you will need

to take the training associated with your new position.

Scoutmasters and assistant Scoutmasters are considered trained when they have completed Fast Start,

New Leader Essentials, Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmaster Leader Specific Training, and Introduction to

Outdoor Leader Skills.

When and where is Scout Training available?

Scout Leader training is available every month at the Miami Valley Council office in Dayton. To register for training

events contact the Scout Shop at 4999 Northcutt Place, Dayton, Ohio, 937-278-4869
